Detailed Project Statement Analysis Patterns – an Approach for Flexible and Reusable Information Systems

Information systems are becoming increasingly important in today’s society as a result of technological innovations as well as organisational developments. In order to realise the promises of future information systems, software methods and architectures have to support two key features: reuse and flexibility. In recent years, the main approach to reusable and flexible information systems has been the component-based enterprise framework. This approach has already been successfully applied, but to realise its full potential, several problems need to be solved. In particular, the problems of identifying and customising components have to be addressed. The work proposed in this project will result in novel methods and tools that will contribute to the solution of these issues. The main contribution of the work is the design of a pattern library combined with a query and analysis mechanism that allows designers to easily identify and customise system components. It is envisaged that this design will enable the construction of powerful systems development environments that are needed to build the information systems of the future.
